I have to call out two myths about men: men are not as romantic as women. The second, that men in some ways are, ‘simple.’ It’s not my word, but other women describe men this way.
Did you know that men fall more easily in love? A new study found men fall in love quicker than women, and the reason could be biological. A study of 172 college students found men reported falling in love earlier than women and expressing that sentiment first. But it doesn’t matter who falls in love fastest.
From a biological perspective, this concept makes sense because a woman will be the one to have the child; she needs to be more selective in her process.
The second myth doesn’t serve either gender. To assume that men are superficial or only want one thing is bound to keep you feeling anxious and worried.
The problem is that if you believe either myth, you might also hold yourself back. Why fall for someone or be a complex person around someone simple?
In summary, men and women are more similar than are different. The book Men are from Mars and Women from Venus did not help. Think of men and women as being from the same attachment planets. Men have similar wounds to women, crave intimacy, fall in love, get their hearts crushed, and they want you to appreciate that they are unique as well.
